Did you know that March is International Women’s month? You might be wondering what this month is all about. We’ve decided to use it as an opportunity to remind our female readers that we are precious in God’s eyes and that we can find our approval in Him.

Throughout history – since biblical times – women have faced many prejudices and challenges, they were able to show strength and courage in times of trouble.

One thing many of us struggle with is finding approval. We can easily compare ourselves to others and ask, “am I good enough? How do I know if I fit in?  Do my friends really like me? What if I’m not attractive? Why do I feel so lonely?

Since we all struggle with these questions of identity and purpose, we’re using International Women’s Month to remember that we can find approval in God. If you don’t believe us, take these next five verses as proof. They’re truths to remind you that you can always find approval in Him!

1.)  God wants your heart
Exodus 34: 14Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

You are so important that the God who made the entire universe wants you for himself!
The word “jealous” in this sense means that He wants to be the number one in your life. And putting him first in your life will not only help you to really enjoy your life; it will also allow you  be a blessing to those who are – or will – become part of your journey on earth. When struggling to gain approval remember that God values your heart and is calling you to place him at its center.

2.) God wants to empower you
2 Timothy 1:7 → For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

You don’t have to worry about being better than others. You are unique. Every life is important including yours. In God you can find strength, power and love, even when others reject you. This truth can fulfill you in moments when you doubt your worth. If you want to read more about finding fulfillment in him, read our blog post on this topic here.

3.) With God, you can be sure of who you are and walk in confidence
Proverbs 31:25 → She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

Sometimes we feel anxious when we feel invisible and like no one really sees us. But focusing on God’s word helps us view these situations differently. You start seeing that Your creator fights your battle. Struggles won’t take the faith or the dignity of those who trust in the Lord. As Isaiah 30 reminds us, trusting in God will help us soar on wings like eagles. With God, you can confidently soar above your challenges.

4.) God wants you to calm down
Ecclesiastes 11:10 →So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body.

Let’s face it: women are super busy. In Jesus’ day, one super busy woman was Martha. She really wanted to serve Jesus but was so distracted by doing things for him that she forgot to calm down and enjoy his presence. I can relate to Martha personally because I too get distracted when there’s so much to do. Christ’s words to Martha remind me that He is the one who matters most.  I’m learning to simply sit at His feet and enjoy his presence.

5.) The approval you need is found in God
Song of Songs 4:1 → How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful!

One day when I was feeling really sad and even worthless, I prayed and asked God to talk to me. I asked him to tell me how he sees me. These were the Bible verses he gave:
Song of Songs 2:2 →Like a lily among thorns is my darling among the young women.
Song of Songs 2:4b →And let his banner over me be love.
I am his beloved; a lily among thorns. And his banner over me is love. God is the lover of my soul which is why I no longer need others’ approval.

To me, thorns are the problems, difficulties, and bad people I encounter in my life. And as for his banner over me being love, this makes me believe that I am his property and that no matter how people treat me, I must respond with love because my Lord is love. It truly is in God’s love and approval that I have found my identity. I can be a woman of hope because of who He is and how he sees me.
