Have you ever thought about life and its meaning? Some of us wonder about living life fully. Others of us struggle with purpose – or the lack of it.

Every week I read stories of people who took their own life because they just couldn’t find a reason to live anymore. And I wonder if anyone saw the signs, symptoms, or their pain. Didn’t anyone look into that person’s eyes? Maybe not.

These may be difficult things to think about, but what if living life fully is about embracing these questions? Or better yet, what if the meaning of life is found in turning to the One who has the answers we’re searching for? What if living life fully involves turning to God and helping others – others who are in deep pain – turn to him as well?

Turn to the Giver of Life

The scriptures contain real examples of people that began a totally different life once they had an encounter with God. One such person was Paul.  Before encountering Christ, Paul made it really difficult for people to follow God and even killed Christians. But once he encountered Christ, everything changed! Later, Paul wrote to his friends telling them that the things he used to value meant nothing anymore compared to knowing Christ (Philippians 2). Can you imagine that? Turning to the Giver of Life transformed his purpose and the way he saw his life. Maybe you sometimes struggle to find meaning and purpose; have you ever thought of turning to God?

Point Others to the Giver of Life

An interesting thing we see in the bible is that when people began to live with the Life Changer, they also became life changers.  For example, In Acts 3:1-10 we read about how Peter looked to a man before healing him by the power of Jesus. Peter didn’t have money to give this beggar who could not walk but he gave him something much more precious. He paid attention and helped the man in a significant way that changed his life.

The same thing can happen to you! When walking with God, you can find a new purpose for your life and also be someone who is able to help others in a positive way.

Living life fully and differently

So these are two keys to living life fully: turning to God and letting his Spirit lead you towards others. With that said, it’s time to make a difference. Actually, it’s time to be different – to be the change. If you have encountered Christ, the bible calls you to be the light and the salt of the earth. (Matthew 5:13-14). This means being different and changing the atmosphere.

I encourage you to act differently this week. Pay more attention to someone’s need and help someone in your own family or neighbourhood. Maybe you’ve never done this before but I believe that if you take a step, you will find that Christ is faithful to help you. If you don’t know where to begin, this blog can give you ideas about how to be a light to a friend who is hurting.

It’s so exciting to help others. Sometimes it takes simple words or actions. Or it could be sharing an encouraging song like this one that calls us to point your friends to the one who is Life. Helping others gives you courage and experience to do more. I am sure you will end up having a lot of testimonies to share just like our couple here who is on the road on the #GoVoke Tour.

Finally, as you go and make a difference, remember these words:

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. (Romans 8:19)

We who have encountered God are called to be different. We are called to reveal our true identity and point others to him.
